It’s not easy to find a great contractor in San Francisco, but we still managed to find the perfect company for our window repairs (California Window Masters). Not because there aren’t many of them, it’s because it’s hard to narrow them down.
Recently, we were looking for a company to install replacement windows in our San Jose home and stumbled upon California Window Masters. They do window replacement for San Francisco and the Bay Area in general, so we called them to get a quote for our San Jose home that desperately needed window replacement.
Our home was newly renovated, but it’s an original from the turn of the century. And while I’m sure the windows aren’t original, they were still very old and leaky. Once we new we could afford to have them replaced, we finally started doing research for window companies in San Jose and San Francisco. We found that California Window Masters had been in business for a long time and also had a lot of experience working with older homes just like ours.
They even managed to quote us for much less than we anticipated, which was a definite plus for us because we were hoping to keep window replacement on the low end. And I never felt that the representatives at California Window Masters were trying to cheat us or try to get us to upgrade when we didn’t need to. They were just fairly priced and gave us really great work.
While it is hard to find the right person to do the job, there is always someone willing to do it. But that doesn’t mean that you should have just anyone perform repairs and window replacement in your home. You should always perform research and see what other people are saying about the company you want to hire to perform repairs on your home.
We asked around and found that in addition to having a great and easy to navigate website, California Window Masters does great work that their clients are willing to talk about and vouch for.

I moved to the Bay area two years ago, and have moved three times since. Moving three times in two years isn’t ideal, but I was lucky enough to have Golden Bay Relocation movers in San Francisco every time. I honestly don’t know what I would have done without them.
I live alone in a small apartment, but living and moving in San Francisco is no easy feat. First of all, most of the apartments I lived in were on at least the second floor on my apartment. As a 27-year-old woman, I know that I’m strong, but perhaps not strong enough to carry a couch up a few flights of stairs.
It was great having Golden Bay Movers help me with my move because they knew exactly how to move up the stairs and fit all of my furniture safely through doorways. The last time I had friends help me, I ended up with a bunch of broken glass and a few dented walls. It was not the way I wanted to start a new life in my new apartment.
In addition to not having anything broken or maimed, the move was finished really fast because the people doing the moving were professionals. They were fast and efficient and didn’t even need any additional time to work. I was moved in and out in less than three hours and it was the best move I ever had. That’s why I keep choosing them– because they do consistent and amazing work.

Lately, I’ve been trying to focus on buying locally. Food, clothes, even music and furniture. It wasn’t until I visited Rendez-vous Winery in Sacramento that I realized that I could be drinking locally too.
I know how important it is to the economy and it can even be better for your health if you eat locally. For produce, it’s healthier to eat locally because the longer that fresh fruits and vegetables sit around and travel, the more nutrients they lose. But eating locally, you get the freshest produce possible. Living in Northern California, I have it pretty easy because we have so much great agriculture around us.
When I went to Rendez-vous winery with a few friends last weekend, I realized that living locally could mean even more than I thought. I pretty much assumed that the closest wine I could get to local was Lodi or Napa. But actually, there are quite a few wineries that are even closer. When I tasted Rendez-vous’ wines, I was really impressed!
In addition to selling wines, Rendez-vous also locally produces olive oil and balsamic vinegar! They also had delicious gourmet jams and spreads that were also locally produced. Purchasing wine, olive oil, balsamic vinegar and jam from Rendez-vous seemed the perfect place to buy local products from. I didn’t even know that anyone in the Sacramento area produced olive oil or balsamic vinegar. And they were DELICIOUS!
I had a great time at Rendez-vous learning about wine and how it is produced in the wine country of Clarksburg, California. It was so lovely! I think it’s so important to local industry to support local businesses as much as possible. I used to be in favor of chains because they are comforting sometimes, but the more I branch out, the more I discover and the more I realize that local Sacramento has so much to offer. From wine tasting, to restaurants, to local boutiques and clothing stores.
I feel great knowing that I am supporting my community and inspiring others in a shift to support and stimulate the local economy.
